 The Department of Biotechnology, established in 2005, with the vision of promoting excellence in Biotechnology education and research. The department aims to provide quality education and training in modern biological sciences. The department focuses on developing students’ knowledge in areas such as Genetics, Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetic engineering and rDNA technology, Immunology and Immunotechnology Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Industrial and Environmental  Biotechnology and Cancer Biology. Over the years, the department has attracted highly qualified and experienced faculty members who are dedicated to imparting quality education and mentoring the students.

These facilities provide students with hands on experience and exposure to cutting edge techniques and instruments, enabling them to gain practical skills that are essential for success in the field of Biotechnology, we are  equipped with well-maintained laboratories and encourages practical learning, research activities, and scientific thinking through industrial visit, mini project guidance, internship programmes, microalgae cultivation (skill enhancement programme), mushroom cultivation (Entrepreneurship programme).

Our Department students have been secured university rank every year and also enrolled as university PG students. Our department students have been placed in reputed medical coding companies and research laboratories. The department also promotes academic excellence, innovation, and skill development to prepare students for higher studies, research, and careers in the Biotechnology and life-science industries.

OBJECTIVES

  • The objective of the course is to give students new knowledge and widening of the knowledge acquired in other course by handling of classical and modern plant biotechnology processes, including breeding of healthy plants, plants with improved characteristics and plants for biomolecule production.
  • Understanding of biotechnological processes has also applicative value in pharmaceutical and food industry, in agriculture and in ecology.

SCOPE OF BIOTECHNOLOGY

  • Graduates will apply knowledge of Mathematics, Science and Engineering concepts to solve problems pertinent to Biotechnology.
  • Graduates will be able to identify problems related to biotechnology, analyze and derive valid conclusions with fundamental knowledge in biology, Engineering and computation.
