Citizen Consumer Club

Citizen Consumer Club (CCC) was established in our College during the year 2008. The objective of CCC is to educate the students about the rights of Consumers as stated in Consumer Protection Act, 1986. The club disseminates information gained through consumer clubs among their fellow students as well as among the people living in their respective locality.

Consumer Rights as stipulated under Consumer Protection Act 1986 are

  • Right to Choose
  • Right to be heard
  • Right to seek Redressal
  • Right to Consumer Education
  • Right to Basic needs
  • Right to a healthy environment

The motto of Citizen Consumer Club is AWARE, ALERT AND ACT

Our College CCC is conducting various programs relating to consumer rights, awareness and responsibilities for the benefit of the students. Our consumer club also conducts various competitions for students such as essay writing, poetry and drawing competition.

OBJECTIVE :

                  To collaborate, cooperate, actively participate and function in accordance with the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Government of Tamil Nadu. It creates awareness among the students about the consumer rights and responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF CITIZEN CONSUMER CLUB:

  • To learn and follow the traits of a responsible citizen and aware consumer.
  • To disseminate information gained through the club among fellow students, parents, and other people in the community.
  • To organize and actively participate citizen building and consumer protection programmes being organized by the club as well as in their locality, mobilizing general public.
  • To observe all important international and national days especially Republic Day (26th January), National Consumer Day (24th December) and World Consumer Rights Day (15th March).
  • To treat all fellow citizens with care, concern and responsibility.
